I’ve just had the pleasure of watching the latest episode of Once Upon A Time, ‘Second Star To The Right’.
Emma, Mary Margaret and David go in search of Regina when they discover that she, along with the remaining magic beans, have gone missing. But against Neal’s protests, Emma still believes that Tamara had something to do with Regina’s disappearance. At first she covers expertly, but in the end, thanks to a spell from Rumpelstiltskin (removing the favor he owes Charming), the gang find Regina. In a confrontation, Tamara shoots Neal, and stops Emma by throwing a magic bean at her. Neal stops her falling in, but falls himself. Emma is distraught, as they had just enough time to say how much they actually loved each other before he fell. Emma assumes he will die because of the gunshot wound. It’s revealed by Regina under torture that Greg’s father is killed, and that Greg and Tamara are working for the Home Office (who have gotten rid of magic numerous times before, apparently). They also now have control of the fail safe, and have been instructed to use it.
Meanwhile, after Rumpelstiltskin abandons his son and lets him travel alone through a portal, young Bae finds himself back in 19th century London and is taken in by the Darling family befriending their daughter Wendy. He’s adopted into their family, and it’s revealed that Wendy has been taking trips to Neverland with a mysterious shadow that’s started appearing since Bae arrived. Despite Bae’s warnings about magic, she still goes, and returns the next morning. She’s upset because the shadow won’t let anyone leave, and only let her go because it wants one of her brothers instead. They set a trap for it, but it still gets through. Bae sacrifices himself for Wendy’s brother in order to keep the Darling family together. Whilst being taken to Neverland, Bae uses a match to scare off the shadow, and falls into the ocean. He’s pulled out and brought on board the Jolly Rodger – by Captain Hook.
It was a great episode that really set up the season finale next week. There are plenty of mysteries revolving around a lot of the characters that are starting to unravel, and hopefully the finale will give us some answers. I can’t wait for next week.
