Actor John Paul Medrano talks with Jesus, @thisfunktional of thisfunktional.com about his career and influences.
Transitioning from Mexico to the United States, actor John Paul Medrano starts off with two projects to be in the festival circuit.
“Las Vampirass” and “Mira Protocol” are two distinct projects which Medrano took upon and learned from.
“It’s funny because sometimes you don’t feel it when you are acting in it, but when you see it on screen you see the whole difference,” Medrano said. “It’s basically immerse yourself in the situation you are in and the results will show.”
First, Medrano was a graphic designer, but soon he would follow his passion for being an actor and take acting classes at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles.
Medrano moved from Mexico to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of being an actor. Earlier in his life it was a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood which inspired a fondness for acting.
“I remember very clearly. We were at one of these shows about ‘Harry and the Hendersons’ and they asked for someone from the audience, they asked for me,” Medrano said. “The woman tell me, ‘Hey scream at the audience,’ I started screaming pretty loud and I’m screaming and screaming and I turn around and theres a Bigfoot behind me and it scares the hell out of me. It was actually really fun, a really fun experience.”
Medrano will be part of two short films which will make the film festival circuit.
