The hunt for this fourth alien serial killer is on, but the gang finds answers where they least expect it. Kyle questions his mom about his father’s death and relationship with Manes, which reveals a coded message left from Mr. Valenti. Isobel’s out of her pod and the anecdote’s side effects give her shocking memories of her relationship with Rosa. Then there’s a surprising hospital shooting that leads Liz and Max to believe that maybe Isobel is actually innocent in all of this and their alien serial killer’s super power is possessing people’s bodies. Meanwhile, Alex learns that Michael is trying to leave planet Earth, and Noah gives some of the best one-liners I’ve ever heard.
“It might as well be you.”
Alex and Michael put all their cards out on the table last week concerning their feelings. Now, they’re on the verge of getting to know each other better. Well, Michael seems to be the one doing most of the talking. He tells Alex about his childhood of bouncing between abusive foster homes before finally landing back in Roswell and feeling grateful that Max and Isobel had a better go of things. Then he shows Alex his little alien artifacts storage bunker under his trailer and the partially reconstructed spaceship he’s been working on – something he’s never shown anyone. When Alex asks why he’s being shown this, Michael answers simply that he’s tired of secrets and, “If anyone’s going to destroy me, it might as well be you.” Awww! However, Alex isn’t too thrilled that Michael is planning on leaving the planet. So much so, that he doesn’t even mention the piece of the ship he found in the cabin. Uh oh… I don’t see Michael taking this too well when he finds out, and I guarantee you he will find out.
Valenti Questions
After learning that his dad was most likely murdered by an alien instead of dying of cancer, Kyle went straight to his mom for answers. Unfortunately, his mom, the sheriff, doesn’t really have any that are satisfying to him. She saw her husband’s CT scans and the tumor that took over his brain at an alarming speed. How could she argue that? “Open a murder investigation over cancer?” So, the question is, what really killed Jim Valenti? His autopsy says alien, but everyone else knows the cause of death to be a brain tumor. Could the two go hand-in-hand? And does Jesse Manes have something to do with it? After all, Manes is obsessed with the alien investigation and Valenti may have been threatening to talk. Plus, Manes and Valenti’s “friendship” was anything but normal it seems.
Kyle’s mom did give Kyle something that may be of significance, though – a coded letter to him from his father. Kyle takes it to Alex for help decoding it. The first message decoded: “I love you Magoo.” Magoo was Kyle’s high school nickname! That’s really of no significance other than the fact that it’s cute, but there’s a second message that turns out to be about the name Caufield that turns out to be an old prison that’s been shut down for decades. It’s where Kyle’s grandfather apparently started his career.
“I married an egg person”
I’ll admit, I was worried about Noah there for a minute, y’all, but I mean I get it. He was just worried about his wife. So, when he first sees her at home after coming out of her pod and pulls a gun on her, it’s a bit bizarre, but understandable. I guess. I actually found it to be quite hilarious for a few reasons. One, he has no idea why he has a gun. He doesn’t even want one. Two, he’s so baffled by the fact that Isobel’s an alien and seeing her in the pod. “I married an egg person,” he says, to which Isobel responds by saying she prefers the term “pod.” Even after learning everything and being assured that Isobel didn’t manipulate his love for her, Noah’s still so in love with her. They plan to go on a picnic (amidst an on-coming snowstorm), but Isobel’s new memories of Rosa entices her to go to the hospital for more of Liz’s anecdote, and Noah promises to hold her hand through all of it. 😊
Memories
The first memory Isobel has of Rosa is when they first meet while Rosa’s graffitiing the town gazebo. They bond over a mutual understanding of one another and the feeling that Roswell has already dubbed them the bad girl and the good girl. The one memory makes Isobel want more so she can figure out why she killed Isobel and those girls. At the hospital, Liz is hesitant to give Isobel another dose because they don’t know all the side effects and whatnot, but Isobel manages to convince her to give a small dose. Just as she does, though, there’s an active shooter at the hospital. Noah ends up getting shot and Liz’s lab ends up in flames, destroying all her research. At first, they believe the suspect is just an angry protestor, but when he turns out to be an epileptic barista who has no recollection of what he’s done, Liz thinks of another theory. This isn’t the first case of blackout violence. The first time, when Isobel killed Rosa. The second, Wyatt Long killing Grant Green. Now, the third, this barista and the research lab. So, Liz theorizes that maybe this alien serial killer, whomever he or she may be, is possessing people’s bodies. I mean, sure. Makes sense, I guess.
Adding to this theory are Isobel’s other memories, which come after the shooting. Her second memory is one we’ve seen before, when Rosa finds her car vandalized and Isobel shows up. This leads present day Isobel to believe that she was in love with Rosa. “I wanted her,” she tells Michael, which he welcomes her to the club. “It’s a real bisexual alien blast around here,” he quips – LOL, I love Michael. Anyways, it’s the third memory that really, quite literally, opens Isobel’s eyes. It’s the night she killed Isobel. We’ve seen the moment when Michael runs up and sees Isobel holding her hand over Rosa’s mouth. Isobel’s memory reveals her interaction with Rosa in the cave leading up to that moment. Rosa’s angry because she can’t find her train tickets and believes Isobel took them. She wants Isobel to leave her alone. Isobel tells her that she killed those girls for her, and suggests they run away together. She even says that Isobel isn’t who she really is and that she can be the perfect man for Rosa. Rosa pretends to oblige, but Isobel can tell she’s lying. That’s when Isobel gets mad and grabs Rosa by the face can kills her.
So, who is this body-snatcher and what is their problem???
Notable Mentions
- Max and Liz are still low-key being little cuties together. 😊
- Maria learns that Michael is Alex’s dreamy museum guy from ten years ago, then totally shoots down anything else possibly happening with her and Michael because BFF code, duh. However, I see some possible real feelings lingering between Maria and Michael as she turns him away from the closed bar. This love triangle should be interesting if anything comes of it.
- Kyle reveals to his mom that Rosa was Jim’s daughter, not his mistress.
- Jenna accepts Max’s apology for lying to her about being an alien all these years.
- “I come in peace.” LOL, Isobel.
- From what we’ve seen, Max is always rushing in to save the day, but Jenna notes that this is actually new for him.
