Episode 2 of Doom Patrol has hit, and it provides some answers as to what happened in Episode 1, and asks some more questions. Just a few quick notes….
First and foremost, we get a better idea of what the hell is going on with the flatulent donkey.
I will admit that at first, I thought the cockroach was a part of Mr. Nobody, like the donkey, but I think that’s an Easter Egg for fans of the comics, so I’m lost on that one.
Alan Tudyk seems to be having fun playing the villain, and it shows in his performance I think, although the fourth wall breaking, while amusing, is treading on the path of too much of a good thing. Does Mr. Nobody break the fourth wall as much in the comics? Or at all? Let me know if you know. I want to be in the know…ya know?
There’s more of Cliff Steele trying to be hero, but not always being so hot at it. He does start making more intelligent decisions though.
Every Cyborg origin story I am familiar with involves a Mother Box, but this one doesn’t seem to, and his Dad is his programmer and upgrader who is trying to get him noticed by the Justice League? Between wanting to get him noticed by the Justice League, and the origin, I’m pretty sure this show isn’t set in the DCEU, and I’m starting to think it is not connected with the Arrow-verse either. I think I’m starting to run out of fingers and toes to count how many different DC TV/Movie continuities there are, especially if you start counting animated too.
Negative Man is quickly becoming the most intriguing member of the Doom Patrol to me. Not necessarily favorite, but I’m curious to see if Larry can develop a rapport or understanding with the energy being inside of him. Not being able to board the bus was entertaining.
Mr. Nobody and The Chief have some history. How far back does it stretch? What impact will this have on the rest of the team? Why is the team not concerned about his not returning with the rest of them?
We’ll have to see where the story takes us in Episode 3.
