Emmaline Friederichs, Madeline Conway and Carly Rae James Sauer star in a fightening film The Nursery.
The film opens up in a dreamy type of way with spooky music and the same scene playing over and over again. The main character Ranae is a college student who babysits for a family that don’t seem to be too normal. When we are introduced to them, they have a very uneasy vibe about them. Before Ranae is joined by her friends, she is freaked out by some photos sent to her and noises in the house. She doesn’t want her friend to worry but they insist on coming over and keeping her company. While her friends are there, Ranae keeps seeing different figures of people, hearing noises again and feels a certain spirit among them. As the night progresses, they each begin to experience the same as Ranae and try their hardest to fight off these demons who are torturing them.
I feel the director did a good job at portraying the story. I was definitely freaked out by the evil spirit taunting Ranae and her friends. Although the acting didn’t seem to be realistic, I think the director wanted to show a different side to horror films in this picture. This film really gave me the creeps and brought me back to the times that I used to babysit. I was always so afraid being alone at night in a house while the kids were asleep. I would give this film a good rating and recommend it for others to watch.
The Nursery is available on VOD June 5 and on DVD August 7.
