In this apocalyptic drama, James (Nathan Phillips) is a troubled young man on a mission. He’s desperate to join his girlfriend at the ‘party to end all parties’ to numb all feelings as the world faces a cataclysmic event that will end life on the planet. On his journey however, James is greeted by a lawless and chaotic city and discovers that getting to where he needs to be will not be easy. Along the way, he saves the life of a girl named Rose (Angourie Rice), frantically searching for her father. Out of options, James invites Rose to join him. Together they discover how they would truly like to spend their last moments on Earth in this world gone mad.

My thoughts on THESE FINAL HOURS…
🙂 Check out the poster movie fans. See where it says… “EASILY ONE OF THE BEST FILMS OF THE YEAR.” I would have to agree. WHOA. What a roller coaster of emotions. (lol) I thought this movie was great.
Ok. Where do I start. I know. Nathan Phillips (Wolf Creek) who plays the main dude James. The dude rocked it in my eyes. Watching him – I felt his exhaustion. He was just great in the movie. Next…Angourie Rice (currently filming The Nice Guys) – she plays the little girl Rose. WHOA! She was awesome. People better watch out for this little girl. I really enjoyed watching James and Rose together – – – things happen for a reason and I really believe Rose was placed at that very moment for James.
Oh – and how they meet. Freaking crazy. Fuking sicko’s! That whole part was intense. It was good seeing Jessica de Gouw (TV’s Arrow) in the movie. She’s hot. I dig The Huntress. 😉 Last but not least…Sarah Snook (currently filming JOBS; Jessabelle) – she did great as a crazy mom. You almost felt bad for her. BUT – – she was nuts.
I thought the story was great from start to finish. Violence. I dug it. The way it was filmed – – it had a crazy, cool tint color to it. You could feel that something bad was coming…like the calm before the storm. Another thing that added to that feel was the radio announcer. Every time he would talk – it was just cool. I could picture him in his radio station studio – – – looking out a window – – smoking his last pack of cigarettes. (lol) Even the party tweekers – – they were great. One crazy ‘end of days’ party that’s for sure.
HOLY CRAP BALLS – Kathryn Beck (The Gap) – – – her as James’s coked out girlfriend – – I was like…”RUNNNNN DDUUDDEEEEE!!! Go back to The Huntress!” (lol) But yeah – Kathryn’s performance was great – she reminded me of Julianne Moore’s performance in BOOGIE NIGHTS. (lol)
Once again…great movie from start to finish.
🙁 No complaints here. I wouldn’t change a thing. But – I do have one thing NOT related to the actual movie. The TRAILER. I just watched it…and YOU don’t need to watch it. It gives away too much in my eyes. Just take my word – it’s a great movie and well…you should watch it to.
I give THESE FINAL HOURS… 5 out of 5 popcorns. It’s not only a great movie – but it makes ya think. It makes you think in the NOW. Hug your loved ones. Call your parents.
Watch it – you’ll see what I’m talking about.
