Once Upon A Time, ‘The Miller’s Daughter’

I’ve just had the pleasure of watching the latest episode of Once Upon A Time, ‘The Miller’s Daughter’.

In fairytale’ past, a young Cora is furious after Princess Eva, Snow White’s mother, demands her apology after she trips her in front of the King and his son, the prince. Later on, Cora attends a ball and is surprised when the King identifies her immediately, and is shown that the only way to keep her father in business is to spin straw into gold; Rumplestiltskin assists Cora and falls in love with her, only to have her reject him by ripping her own heart out before she marries the prince, having already been tricked into changing the contract so that she can be free.

In Storybrooke, Emma, Mary Margaret, David, and Neal all try to find a way to save Mr. Gold’s life and stop Cora and Regina from killing him; Mary Margaret finds that the only way to save Mr. Gold is to kill Cora by burning the very same candle that Cora gave to her years ago to test her when her mother was dying. In a moment of weakness, Mary Margaret tricks Regina into restoring Cora’s heart, after completing the ritual. Mr. Gold pleads to Belle when he believes that he’s going to die, which also allows him to bond with Neal again; Regina ends up killing her own mother, and when she realities what exactly happened – she vows to kill Mary Margaret.

It was an absolutely brilliant episode, and a great way to end Cora’s story, and to bring back Regina in all of her evilness. I’m very much looking forward to the next episode, where an old friend returns at last.
