I’ve just had the pleasure of watching the latest episode of Once Upon A Time, ‘Manhattan’.
Rumplestiltskin/Mr.Gold attempts to locate his son Baelfire in New York. Later on, once they track him down to his apartment and Emma chases him, she finds out that Baelfire is her ex-boyfriend, Neil, and Henry’s father. Unfortunately, Baelfire doesn’t want to come to Storybrooke, as he hates the fact that his father abandoned him years ago. He stops Gold from harming Emma, but it’s revealed to everyone that he’s Henry’s father. Back in Storybrooke, Regina, Cora and Hook look for Rumplestiltskin’s dagger, and finally figure out a location, before the mother and daughter duo betray Hook. The stranger who crashed has video evidence of Regina using magic.
Meanwhile in the Fairytale land, when Rumplestiltskin is sent to the Ogre War, he meets a seer who tells him that his wife, Milah, is with child, but his actions could leave his son fatherless. Afraid of the war that awaits him, he hits his own feet with a sledgehammer and goes home. Months later, when he meets Milah, she is carrying their child and full of anger that Rumple is escaping from the Ogre War, calling her husband a coward and leaves their son with him. After Baelfire has been transported to Earth, he finds the Seer again, and she offers him her powers. Before she dies, she tells him that a boy will reunite him with his son, but that he’ll also be his undoing, to which Rumple replies that he’ll just have to kill the boy. Cut back to the real world, and Rumple is looking at Henry.
It was a brilliant episode, revolving entirely around Rumplestiltskin. It gave us some revelations (that some people may have guessed *cough*), and some interesting new plot points to carry forward. I can’t wait to see the fallout in the next episode.
