I’ve just had the pleasure of watching the newest Once Upon A Time episode, ‘Lady Of The Lake’.
The episode is set mainly in fairyworld, both present and past. The past tells the story of Snow getting captured by Lancelot, working for King George, and taken only to be cursed to never have children. After realising how cruel King George is, Lancelot helps Snow to find Charming at his mother’s cabin, only to find that in an attack, she had been shot by an arrow. They head to the lake where Charming killed the Siren in the previous seaosn, only to find it dried up. There is enough water left in a single shell to cure the poison from Charming’s mother, but she doesn’t get better. Snow and Charming are married by Lancelot, and Charming’s mother dies watching, but happy. Afterwards, Snow realises she can have children again, and figures out that Lancelot and Charming’s mother had conspired it together.
In present day fairyworld, Snow and Emma are wary of Cora, before meeting Lancelot, who agrees to let them go on a quest for a way home, as long as they take Mulan as protection. Along the way they run into an ogre, but Snow saves Emma, and Aurora attacks Snow, only to be disarmed easily, and told to channel her anger. They eventually find the way home, the wardrobe that sent Emma to the real world in the first place, but the magic is depleted. Lancelot walks in, and Snow figures out that it isn’t him. Cora returns to her usual form and attacks the 2 (after revealing that she killed Lancelot long ago), who are only saved by Emma’s quick thinking, and the return of Mulan and Aurora. The wardrobe burns, but after the gang leave Cora returns and collects some of the ashes.
In Storybrooke, Henry and Charming are searching for a way to get Emma and Snow back. Henry confronts Jefferson, who reveals he can’t help, and that his daughter is trying to find him. Henry encourages it, saying that knowing that you weren’t just left is better than not knowing anything. Henry then sneaks into Regina’s vault, and is nearly attacked by Arabian vipers until David saves him, and they agree to work together. The episode ends with Jefferson finally reuniting with his daughter, David teaching Henry how to swordfight, and the revelation that King George is in Storybrooke.
After another superb episode, there are still more questions that need answers. I’m very much looking forward to finding out more throughout the rest of the season.
